Coalition of over 25 Youths under the aegis of Democracy Fighters for Good Governance [DFFGG] affiliated to The Grasroots Mobilisers for the Action Congress of Nigeria Party [ACN] Ondo State has vowed that nothing will stop them from dragging the state governor, Dr.Olusegun Mimiko before the Economic  and Financial Crimes  Commission [ EFCC]  over financial recklessness and profligacy.

The Coordinator of the group, Comrade Dada Olawale Eminence warned that if Gov.Mimiko and his cabinet members dont stop the frivolous   spending of the  state resources and allocation profligately on Irrational celebrations saying they will be left with  no other option than to drag him before EFCC.

Comr’d Eminence  challenged Dr Mimiko as the state governor to publish without delay the statement of the state account since the inception of his administration.

On behalf of the masses of  Ondo State,Comrd Eminence gave the Mimiko led administration in the state a one week ultimatum to make public the statement of account of the state while warning that failure to meet these demands The Grassroots Mobiliser will live by its name by calling for a mass action against the government of Labour Party [LP].

The articulate youth leader gave the warning during the week while speaking at  the June 12 Anniversary Programme  held at the ACN party secretariat at Akure, the Ondo State capital that  Ondo State Youths have been having sleepless night over the wasteful manner in which the state government is spending the state resources.

“We have an in depth and exhaustive list of massive looting by Governor Mimiko’s cronies and political compatriots which we may publish soonest with pictorial and documentary evidences of all their looting” Eminence boasted

The youth leader pointed to the Governor spending illegally and on celebration that was uncalled for saying that Ondo State is a state that has been endowed with humanitarian resources in which the total citizens of the state needs to be enjoying till eternity but due to official recklessness and the ineptitude of the political office holders made 70% of the general population to wallowing in penury in a state that is ranked sixth among the Oil Producing states.

Comrd Eminence also said that the profligacy spending of Dr Mimiko and his political associate since their assumption into office on Feb,2009  spent over N568 million to celebrate their one year in office flying in his friends, colleagues, and hanger-on’s from all over the globe at the expense of the state. 

 The Youth leader also noted that if this celebration should persist for all the four years on yearly basis it would gulp the sum of N2.2billion, which worth’s  more than the budgeted allocation for some states for 2months.

He condemned the present government for engaging frivolous spending leaving the immediate needs of the people saying ‘that successful public administrator like Governor Fashola of Lagos does not need to spend  N568million on propaganda before Awori and the Egun masses of Lagos before the whole world will know he is doing excellently well.

The Youth leader revealed that “having considered this profligacy spending, we have concluded our plan to petition EFCC and approach the court of Law to stop further plundering of the state funds by the present administration.

“We require Mr. Governor to please publicize our allocation so far received from February 2009 to May 2011 and  how the N38billion inherited from Gov.Olusegun Agagu’s administration in the coffers of the state was spent.

Eminence concluded that it is criminal for the present government in Ondo State to have denied the people their right to know the state of account of the state, quoting  Section 125 of the amended 1999 Constitution  that, the Accountant General of the state should at least on yearly basis publish and submit the annual report, statement of account, financial statement to the House of Assembly, which is supposed to be audited for credibility and truth for debate, if that has been done, by now all these profligacy’s  would have been clearly identified”

The June 12 event attracted youths across the state and from the neighbouring states had Dr.Olu Agunloye as the Special Guest of Honour ,and Hon Otito Atikase as the Guest Speaker among others. 

In a related development  the Okeagbe born fiery lawyer and the leader of ACN in Ondo State, Dr.Tunji Abayomi has raised alarm over a N100 billion secret loan by Gov.Mimiko

Dr Abayomi said “again I am compelled to raise an alarm about future danger of our state finances, which a few weeks ago I drew the attention of the people of Ondo state to a secret loan of N30 billion authorized by the House of Assembly in a secret money deal.”

The House of Assembly, Abayomi said abdicated its duty to protect the financial interest of the people by not demanding for annual statement of public accounts of Ondo State as well as audited account before granting authority for a pernicious loan.

This was contained in a released signed by Dr Abayomi which was made available to Sunshine VOICE Weekly at Akure that the house chose to become Mimiko’s House, instead of Ondo State’s House.

He said Ondo state is gradually witnessing a realm in which the people have no influence and no rights over the democratic resource which government should be is gradually giving way for oppressive imposition by a pitiless government order, that disdains proper means or legitimate ends.

“The alert at the immediate urgent present moment is the new desire of Governor Mimiko to increase the N30 billion illegal loan to N100 billion. This new financial intake of N100 billion loan will certainly burst the financial health of Ondo state because her freedom will be imperiled by the gripping debt for a very long time”.

Abayomi also noted that Ondo State Government [ODSG] has become a desperate money merchant to solve many development problems it created out of utter failure  though saying ‘at least 7 major roads remain less than 30% completed over two years after the government came to power. It is estimated that Governor Mimiko’s “Dome” which has now been abandoned has consumed about N2 billion of public money’.

“The health sector in spite of international agency support is pregnant with undeliverable pain, the University is on angry strike, while the minimum wage of N18,000 remains unpaid by a government that was happy to spend over N1 billion to celebrate its first and second year anniversaries as Poverty prevails everywhere!”

He called on the people to resist the government from what he termed as dangerous loan that ‘it is now clear that to save the state from terrible financial trauma, the N30 billion loan need to be resisted.

“The N100 billion loan now desperately desired by the Mimiko government need to be stopped by the people of Ondo State, the only true guardian of their financial liberty. Mimiko’s Government must stop the dangerous loans’’

“The price of our liberty has, with urgent force, become eternal vigilance against the Mimiko government. Ondo States people be vigilant! Stand up to protect today and guarantee tomorrow” Abayomi concluded.

Recently you and some of your compatriots started a political campaign that evolved into a political organization .What informed this decision?

The large scale of political ineptitude, political recklessness and lack of corporate governance among our political class informed the decision to start the mass movement known today as the New Naija Agenda[NNA].It is a known fact that most political parties today have failed the people likewise the political appointees, after the era of late Papa  Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Tafawa Balewa,  Azikiwe and lots more, there has not been any party with a clear cut political ideology, all the parties  like my father,Uncle Bola Ige once described them as the same finger of  a leprosy  hand, so there can not be any meaningful development from these politicians. Some of the elected party officers and public office holders do not even have political ideology nor understand what we call genuine democracy. So it is based on these that we formed a study group which was the nucleus of our mission about three years ago when we realized that most of our democratic structures have been proliferated by money-bags and we professionals in politics can not just watch the nation bleed to death and this led us to start a campaign for a new political order.

Why did you launch it on May 29, 2011 same day a new government was been sworn in ?

Yes, our public launch coincided with the swearing in of President Goodluck Jonathan because we can not wait any longer as we are afraid if we tarry a bit a replica of the event that engulfed the nation at the twilight of the last regime may mean doom for our nation.When lawlessness, violence, maiming and killing, bomb blast were the order of the day.Our youths needed  a very distinct and new political ideology that is our goal with New Naija Agenda where peace, harmony shall reign supreme.

Can you throw more light on the  New Naija Agenda?

Like I earlier said it is not an adhoc thinking or a mere political propaganda machinery like some have. In the past most of us have belonged to different political associations, parties, and groups but the link we have that attracted us to decide to work together is that we are all professionals, successful in our chosen careers, not an organization formed by failed professionals or businessmen.All our coordinators are men of proven integrity, highly respected individuals with genuine commitment to democracy and indivisible entity called Nigeria.We have strong passion for making Nigeria a better place for our children.It is our believe that Nigeria can still be better after our carefull appraisal of all the political office holders and their party we have a very strong believe that not all politicians are bad afterall Governors like Mr Raji Fashola,Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and Adams Oshiomole are equally politicians but professionals. So if these people are doing wonders in their respective positions of power why can’t we support others to succeed. Mind you we also noted the strong passion of certain individual politicians who are committed to the total emancipation of their people like the ACN leaders Senator Bola Tinubu,Chief Bisi Akande, and others.

How are you going to achieve your goals since you claimed not to be affiliated to any party?

It is true we are not affliated to any political party but we will at all times work with party with developmental programmes that will liberate the people from shackle of poverty and war. That  we support a party in the West does not mean we will support the same party in the south or in the north. New Naija Agenda is a mas movement that is determined to succeed where other similar groups or associations has failed. Because we have conducted research in Nigeria and abroad  why political organisations failed in their mission to achieving their set objectives and goal.We will also honour politicians who have shown courage and display commitment to the ideal of true democracy like Governor Fashola of Lagos State and Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State both has displayed their loyalty to the electorate.And we shall hold accountable political office holders who misused their mandate to the detriment of the people.That is why our public launch coincided with the swearing- in of the new president as we shall beem our search light on the activities of the executive, the judiciary and the legislators from the local government level to the national level.As at to day we are already mobilising the people on how to monitor the people they elect that is why we have coordinators round the whole federal constituencies and in diaspora.So that we could monitor our politicians even outside the shores of Nigeria.

What are other features that make New Naija Agenda very different?

As I have given you reasons that gave birth to the organization I will as well have given reason to tell you that, the organization as a non party but political platform for social change established to champion the cause of the down trodden masses, the downtrodden citizen  by monitoring government activities, policies and making positive and constructive criticism when necessary.We are equally putting in place mercenary to prosecute some erring politicians and public officeholders as our legal team have just finished compiling list of those to be prosecuted. The list is amazing when you quantify the rate of embezzlement with the rate of political propagandas put in place. This New Naija Agenda [NNA] is established to give Nigerians political liberty. We will not damn whatever it will take us to champion the cause of the down trodden masses, the downtrodden citizen by monitoring government activities, policies and making positive criticism when necessary. Very soon you will see our position paper on the issue of corruption both at state and national level each state have been mandated to do an in-depth analysis of level of political corruption among the political appointees and you will be amazed by the level of corruption in our land. Many of these politicians parading themselves as superstars will soon go to jail because there are many Bankole’s and Alameiysa among our politicians.Nigeria must be rid of corruption

What are the measures put in place by your organization to checkmate proliferation by the so called political class?

Our organization unlike the usual political pressure groups is founded on a new Nigeria agenda, we are the missing link in the politics you see how the ACN and the CPC party were able to mobilize the people during the last election it shows that what the voter really needed is adequate awareness that they should vote for the person before the party and we thank God that that the rate of ballot snatching has reduced to a barest minimum though the last election was highly monetized but we hope that the next election we will get it more right. And I earlier said that our organisation is an amalgamation or a coalition of professionals with proven integrity we are men of courage, vision and knowledge. While I will not rule out proliferation but before then we would have shown Nigerians how to think, we would have mentally re-orientate a higher fraction of the society and this would rub off on the larger population during the next poll. Many of us have been in many parties and we have found out that it is only political reorientation that can save the nation. And we are starting our awareness campaign round the six geopolitical zones soon.

I always described myself simply as detribalized Nigerian, a committed democrat, with an unrepentant passion for indivisible Nigerian. Am a member of the ACN in Akure South Local government, by Gods grace the Sasere of Isikanland Akure, a very successful Telecom and Security equipment merchant, I run a very enterprising tourism company that owns the popular Ages Hotel, Akure and am known to be a socialite and a great philanthropist. Sometimes in April the residents of Akure the state capital and its environs were stunned by a political campaign posters titled ‘You  will soon feel the different’ flooding the streets of Akure.

These was followed by a lot of insinuations as the group remained faceless during the period while the message continued to reverberate as the main political discussion.

The captions on the poster was written in both Yoruba and English languages that”E ku amumora eyin ara Ipinle Ondo,Oludande n’bo,You will soon feel the difference”

Attempt by Sunshine VOICE reporters to unmask the groups and their political goal led our reporters to linking up with the spokesperson who revealed the arrow head of the campaigners  as one Festus Oluwole and explained  what led to the formation of the group and what they hope to achieve with the political struggle.

The group known as Feel-the-Difference is a political platform currently making wave in the state and was established to promote and actualize the political aspiration of Mr Festus Oluwole to be the next governor of Ondo State come 2013.

Oluwole is one of the Akoko born politicians that has openly declared his gubernatorial ambition to contest the 2012 election in Ondo State.

The successful Tax Consultant hails from Akunnu, Akoko North East LG, Ondo North senatorial zone and was born into the famous Ajiho ruling house, ebi-olu, Akunnu-Akoko.

He had his early Primary school and secondary education at Ikare, Ikaram, Irun,all in Akokoland ,from there he gained admission to the Government Trade  Center, Owo for his technical training.

While in search of the golden fleece, Oluwole sought and also got admitted to the famous Centennial College,Scarborough, Ontario, Canada and the Columbia Pacific University,Canada where he obtained his Masters of Science degree in Civil Engineering

The House of Representatives flagbearer for Owo/ Ose Nigeria (ACN) in the just concluded general election in the country, Hon Femi Adekanmbi at the weekend in Owo presented two buses to the party in Owo and Ose LGS Area respectively.at a  brief ceremony held at the party’s secretariat in Owo.

Adekanmbi during hand over ceremony which was attended by the party executives at the LG level explained that the gesture was to further assist the party in its quest to conquer the state in 2013 and beyond by increasing ACN acceptability across the state and to improve the status of the party saying “this presentation of buses to the two Local governments should be seen as part of measure to strengthen the growth of the party.”

‘We all know that as the acceptability of ACN in the South – West is growing  therefore it must not be  down  played in Ondo State’.

He pledged that he would ensure that no stone is left unturned for ACN in its bid to come to power in the coming Governorship election in the State in 2013.

Receiving the keys of the buses from Adekanmbi,the A.C.N Chairman in Owo.Mr Femi Osedimbola lauded Adekanmbi for his timely intervention adding that the buses would assist in great measure to propagate the party’s agenda to the nook and crannies of the two LG areas.

Mr Osedimbola further stressed that it is an unprecedented gesture  by any candidate to take care of our great party,  is what is at play here today,‘you have demonstrated here  by taking into consideration the future of the  party at heart and he promised to use the buses for what it  is meant for”.

Adekanmbi popularly referred to by his teeming followers as ‘Enerebe’ remains the most popular political figure in the ACN fold in Owo and Ose constituencies.

This makes Mr. Femi Adekanmbi the second ACN the second ACN chieftain to donate vehicle to the party. It will be recalled that Hon. Bola Ilori donated four busses to the party during the general elections. Ilori gave out a bus each to the three senatorial candidates and a bus to the Ribadu Presidential Campaign Team. Bola Ilori who was the Ondo State Coordinator of the Ribadu-Adeola Campaign Organisation provided five branded busses for the campaign weeks ahead of the presidential elections.

Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim of the PDP still leads the pack of those who have donated busses to their political party with 18 buses, followed by Hon. Bola Ilori and now Mr. Femi  Adekanbi.

 Barely a year on the saddle as the substantive Commissioner for Education,Dr Pius Olakunle Osunyinkanmi name reverberated across the political landscape as the ministerial nominee of the Labour Party[LP] by the governor of Ondo State,Dr Olusegun Mimiko to represent the interest of  Ondo State at Aso Rock.

He was picked by the governor based on their long term relations as a tested and trusted ally.

Their godfather and godson relationship could be traced to have started between 1999 and  2005 , when young Pius  was introduced to Mr Governor then as the Commissioner for Health  by  the latter’s younger brother,Femi  Mimiko who was then Osunyinkanmi’s  mentor and lecturer to serve  as Special   Assistant to the Commissioner  for Health, Special  Assistant to Dr Mimiko as  the Secretary to State Government and  later Special Assistant to Dr Mimiko as the Minister of Housing & Urban Development.

When Dr.Mimiko  reclaimed his mandate and became the Governor of Ondo State in 2009, he appointed Osunyikanmi as his Special Adviser on Intergovernmental Affairs and Multilateral Relations, where he performed to the satisfaction of Mr Governor.

In June, 2010, Dr Osunyikanmi was appointed as the Commissioner for Education in Ondo State and has won accolades from education stakeholders in the State through his radical and highly productive commitment to the transformation of the education sector.

As an academician, he has written several research and academic articles published in journals around the world. He has also attended several seminars within Nigeria and in countries like the United kingdom.

He has also visited African counties like Ghana ,Togo,and Benin Republic.He is member, mid –South Sociological Association, United States.

Dr . Pius Olakunle Osunyikanmi  hails  from Ile –Oluji  / Okeigbo   L.G.A  He was born in 1971 and attended St. Francis  Catholic School , Ile-Oluji ,  Ondo State between 1983 -1986 . From there he Proceeded to Holy  Saviours  High School , Ile-Oluji  , for his secondary school  education , which he completed at Orere Grammar School , Ile-oluji .between 1992 – 1997 for his B.Sc. degree in Political Science .After  this he went  further , to the University of Ibadan to  obtain his Masters degree also in Political Science in 2001.

 In further  quest for knowledge, he  proceeded to the Adekunle Ajasin  University , Akungba – Akoko to obtain his  PhD in People  Management  Training Centre Worthing , United Kingdom .This  political Scientist worked  as a class teacher in 1997 during his Youth  Service  where he served his father land in Delta State.

From there,he started his career  in banking as the Business Development  Officer, Owena Bank  PIC, Lagos  in 1998 before veering to full ime poiticking through his alliance and tutelage under Dr.Femi Mimiko and Iroko.

Olaiya oni,LP Chairman  finally resigns

Just as the crisis generated by the ministerial list within the Ondo State  Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] is dying down the list has also wrecked havoc in Labour Party[LP] which made the party Chairman, Dr Olaiya Oni to resign his position.

Impeccable source within the party told Sunshine Voice that the ministerial list crisis last week took it’s toll on LP as there was an unresolved disagreement between the party,Chairman,Dr Oni and governor of Ondo State,Dr Olusegun Mimiko.

The source who said he saw the copy of the resignation letter told Sunshine Voice that Dr Olaiya Oni  last week sent his resignation letter to the governor, Dr Olusegu Mimiko informing him of his decision to quit the party.

The source said,Dr Olaiya Oni in his  letter stated that he is quitting the party to save his name as he alleged that  Dr Mimiko has hijacked the running of the party from the state executives.

Dr Oni the source revealed became bitter when he learnt that Dr Mimiko  unilaterally sent  the name of one Mrs Remi Duyile,who is a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Diaspora Matters.

The Ise Akoko born party Chairman was said to have got wind of the ministerial list from a very close confidant of the governor who said that Dr Pius Osunyinkanmi,the incumbent Commissioner for Education was grumbling why his name was substituted by  Mr.Governor with that of one Mrs Remi  Duyile as LP ministerial nominee without recourse to the state excos.

This infuriated Dr Oni who went wild making frantic calls to his Aso Rock contacts to confirm the authenticity  of ministerial list sent by Dr Mimiko.

But he was even more bitter and devastated when he was told that Mrs Duyile was Dr Mimiko’s ministerial nominee for LP Ondo State.

There and then Dr Olaiya Oni immediately drafted and sent his resignation letter to the governor copying the Osemawe of Ondo kingdom,Oba Kiladejo alerting the king of his decision to quit LP because of what he called Dr Mimiko’s overbearing nature on the party.

This sent a lot of jitters down the spines of the paramount ruler of Ondo Kingdom who called on some of Dr Mimiko’s confidants and inner caucus members including the First Lady to start putting  pressure on Dr Oni not to make his decision public until they will resolve the crisis amicably between the two of them. .

Finally,after three days the Osemawe was lucky to convince  the embattled Chairman,Dr Oni to reverse his decision not to quit the party but Dr Oni Sunshine Voice learnt said he would accept not to quit only on the condition that the governor must also accept his new terms of preference.

 A six paragraph truce condition was therefore drawn by Dr Oni through  Osemawe to the governor with a warning that any attempt to reject a single line among the conditions he will make public his decision to quit LP.

Further investigation within LP at the time of filing this report revealed that  Dr Oni promised to make his official announcement to the public through the media on Monday.

That some selected indigenes of Ondo State are already clamoring for Dr Olusegun Mimiko, the governor of Ondo state to take a shot at the governorship slot come 2013 is no more news.But the disaffection this is already creating among some so called Super Appointees, Commissioners and Labour Party [LP] Leaders who are already complaining about been side track by the new political arrangement.

Sunshine authoritatively gathered that many of the so called untouchable appointees and some members of the kitchen cabinet were already grumbling to have been sideline and left in the cold as they were already grumbling  for not been carried along in  the latest political show.

Some of the appointees who were often refers to in government quarters as ‘Super Appointees [S.As]  were heard murmuring in whispering voice that  because some of them complained that it is still too early for the Gov. Mimiko to be  toying  with the second term agenda.

They also complained that the governor have not even open up to them on why he wanted to go for second term as it wasn’t part of their decision when they were in trenches.

Some of the Super SA’s were reported to have berated the promoters of te 2^nd Term Agenda to have not consulted with them which made some of them to reject the invitation to join the plartform.

An eye witness account told Sunshie VOICE that oe of the commissioners from the Central torn the invitation letter sent to him by the Iroko Platform saying the people can not invite him because he senior them in politics.

“Where are these people when we started the struggle for the emergence of Iroko and they now think the are smart to be talking about second term what have we done to make them believe the people will allow break the second term jinx as this may eventually be our albatross I the administration”

 The party leaders on their own party were jittery about the new arrangement, as the Iroko for second term is structure  in a way that  natural sidelined their existent.

All the political structures created to promote the second term of Iroko are already fill with all levels of executives, while the LP executives from state to ward level are left uninvolved in the cause.

This new political development in Ondo State could be likened  the era of Abacha whenthe Daniel Kanu led YEAA were canvassing for Abacha must  stay, as the governor, Dr.Mimiko is yet to make any categorical statement on the issue but political watchers are saying the man was only waiting for the right time to drop the bombshell.

The governor had on several occasion publicly denounced the issue of second term that he is waiting for God direction on second term but the spokesperson of the Iroko Platform has declared that they have gone ahead of Dr Mimiko to seek God intervention on the cause.

Though, the Iroko 2^nd coming is gradually getting attention while the grumbling continued in  every quarter but promoters have continued their business without bordering about the ranting and grumblings of the governor political associates.

One of the most vocal personality at the vanguard for the advocacy of Dr Mimiko second term is Chief Sanya Oyinsan  a  highly respected political appointee in Mimiko’s government  and notable media guru in Ondo State  is the Coordinators of the Iroko Plartform [IR]

The inclination of  Pa Oyinsan as he’s been refers to in media circles as one of those promoting the second term has given strong credibility to the  agitation for Dr. Mimiko to run in 2013.

Pa Oyinsan who is currently the Chairman of the OSRC board  said in one of his recent interview that since the governor has always been procrastinating saying he will take it to God in prayer.

“We have decide to have gone ahead of him to take it to God and God has answered us and we have been divinely ordered to tell the governor that his prayers has been answered now the whole world are waiting to see how the Ise-Takutakun governor will break the jinx of doing second term in Ondo State politics because no governor ever make second term” Pa Oyinsan

concluded.

It would be recalled that in one of Dr Tunji Abayomi’s interview he recalled the antecedent of Dr.Mimiko as an unrepentant advocate of one governor one term that gave him the sympathy why the people of Ondo State voted massively for him in 2007.

Abayomi said the political event that led to his emergence were as a result of his past and consistent struggle to affirm political zoning, so it is very unfair, totally unacceptable, wicked and immoral for anybody to now start canvassing for Mimiko’s second term”

He point out to the fact that “these same Dr Mimiko fought relentlessly to stop Chief Adefarati second term  and did the same for Agagu 2007 for that same man to now tell the people that he want second term will be very difficult”

The whole world is watching as second term agenda continues to polarize the Mimiko’s administration in Ondo State.

As you are reading this story the representatives of the Ondo State Government [ODSG] deployed from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry would have finally taken full control of the State owned Five Star Hotel, Owena Motels, Akure  from the NICON Luxury Company, owned by Chief Jimoh Ibrahim.

As at the time of filling this report some,our reporter gathered from some staffers of  NICON Luxury who have been managing the hotels for over three years  hat the state government has refused to extend the lease agreement with their company.

 This abrupt termination of the lease and refusal o extend the  agreement between ODSG  and NICON Luxury Company on the management of Owena Motels Limited, may be  a clear indication that the present administration in the state is set to dael with the Ikale born billionaire.

It would be recalled that NICON Luxury Company, which is one of the numerous firms owned by billionaire politician, Mr. Ibrahim, had an agreement with the state government during the twilight days of Gov. Olusegun Agagu to run the hotel for an initial period of three years, subject to review.

The agreement was signed on May 2, 2008 and it was expected to lapse on May 2, 2011 over two weeks ago which made the state governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, to  direct the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Akin Akingbesote, to put an end to the lease.

 This made the Commissioner to  second a very senior official from the ministry of commerce to Owena Motels o Igbatoro,road,Akure  to act as the receiving manager.

The two party,thst is the NICON Luxury team ad the State government officials are already taking stocks and crosschecking available record of all the assets and liabilities of the hotel, before the agreement would be formally terminated.

Sunshine VOICE reporters also gathered that some members of staff of some of the NICO staffers who once hold sway in the hotel had since vacated their rooms and chalets within the hotel complex as some have even checked in to nearby hotels.

The workers were said to have been moved into the vacant office of the NICON Insurance complex located at Isinkan area of Akure.

 Up till the moment of fii this report both the state government and the billionaire company has not issued an official  statement on the new development.

What statrted like a rumour some months ago in the political circle is becoming a reality as the  Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Ondo State and its candidate for Owo constituency I in the state House of Assembly, Ogunoye Folashade have levelled charges of alleged certificate forgery against the Labour Party (LP) legislator-elect in the area, Samuel Arowele.

This was contained in a petition they submitted to the Ondo State Election petitions tribunal  that the Labour Party (LP) legislator-elect in the area, Samuel Arowele, popularly known as ASO-ROCK has been charged with alleged certificate forgery

Counsel to the ACN candidate, Titiloye Charles and Bisi Ayeni in the 23-page petition filed at the tribunal, averred that Mr Aroweles primary school and ordinary level certificate (WAEC/GCE) certificates were forged. They also argued that the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye diploma certificate presented by Mr Arowele was also a fake.

The party stressed that the lawmaker-elect could not have gained admission to study business administration in any university with one credit in Yoruba at WAEC/GCE.

The ACN further averred that the suspect certificate was issued from the office of an unspecified director of OOU and not from the office of the registrar or Vice Chancellor of the Ogun State-owned institution.

Nullify election

The party insisted that the LPs candidate did not hold any certificate he presented to INEC and urged the tribunal to nullify the declaration of Mr Arowele as legislator-elect and order fresh election in the constituency. It also urged the tribunal to order INEC to prosecute the legislator-elect.

More facts are emerging why the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has failed to forgive the suspended minister for Defence, Prince Tokunbo Kayode.

The state chapter of the PDP, through its Chairman and Secretary,Dr.Tayo Dairo and Sola Oludipe, had announced the indefinite suspension of the minister on allegation of anti-party last week.

The executive are yet to reverse the suspension of the Ikaramu-Akoko born lawyer turned politician despite all entireties by the national and zonal body of PDP.

The party leaders alleged the unholy alliance and romance between the minister, Kayode and  ruling Labour Party in the state, to the detriment of his political party.

Sources close to the party told the Sunshine VOICE that the party executives were pressure to take the drastic decision by the members of the National Assembly who loss their return bid.

The NASS members were said to have converged at Abuja and took the decision that they should pay back the minister over their woeful outing at the last poll so that he too can feel what they are feeling.

The state excos acted on the petition of the NASSA members over what they described as Kayode's inability to muster enough support for them during the just concluded general election. 

This move is to blockade the perceived renewed effort by the minister to retain his portfolio having been credited by some party leaders at the zonal and national level for been instrumental to the success of the PDP Southwest rallies.

Kayode was appointed by the late President Musa Yar'Adua  had served in various  ministries as minister from the ministry of Culture and Tourism as well as Labour and Productivity, until he was latter saddle with the responsibility of over seeing the Ministry of Defence by President Goodluck Jonathan, who retained him in the cabinet after the death of his boss.

But the happiness of the party leaders begins to withered as they loss virtually all the bye-elections and polls conducted during his tenure a serving minister.

Some PDP leaders who spoke under anonymity berated Kayode for the monumental loss of the party in all the polls as they believed that if he had played his role sincerely and politically it would have greatly impacted on the fortune of the party.

It was learnt that the minister did not play any active role in the bye-elections conducted in the state and won by the ruling LP before the recent general election.

Specifically, the minister was said to be nowhere to be found during the by-election conducted in the Northern Senatorial District, which the PDP candidate, Jimi Adedapo lost woefully.

They traced the  loss of the PDP candidates at the subsequent election held at Ilaje the backyard of Dr Agagu and the stronghold of the party equally shows the lack of commitment and disloyality of Kayode to the party.

Some Youths group also blamed the minister for the poor showing of the party in the National Assembly and House of Assembly elections.

The group known as the Ondo State Youth Leaders Forum said the ''non challant attitude'' of the minister to the development of the party was responsible for the crack within PDP.

The group, in an open letter to President Goodluck Jonathan signed by its President, Elegbeleye Rasheed PDP aspirant who loss his State House of Assembly bid and Secretary, Kolawole Femi, said that the minister deliberately sold out the party to the opposition, using all the machinery at his disposal in preparation for his second term ministerial slot.

They alleged that the minister was negotiating with the Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, to defect to the PDP before May 29, so that the governor could re-nominate him for the state ministerial slot.

'Tokunbo Kayode has not been a blessing to the Ondo State PDP. He has contributed nothing to the development of the PDP in Ondo State. He only gives money and contracts to his loyalists.

"He is responsible for the poor outing of the PDP in the recently conducted elections in Ondo state. Somebody who cannot deliver his territory to the party, he was only after how to retain his post," the group stated.

But the immediate past Secretary to the State Government [SSG] and a very notable political leader from the southern senatorial district, Barrister Isaac Kekemeke differs on the issue of Kayode's suspension as he accused the party leaders of losing focus.

Hon. Kekemeke who was onetime leader of opposition in the state assembly during the truncated third republic was quoted by some media report that he exonerates Kayode over the abysmal failure of the party in the last election.

He condemned the party executives of conniving and cabal against Kayode, why should he be blame for refusing the party to use armed soldier to rig the last election.

Though the state secretariat of the PDP in Akure is yet to revert the suspension order placed on the minister, but sources closed to the minister said he had been making frantic effort to get his renomination through back door.

Months after the Presidential campaign visit to Ekiti and Ondo States more outstanding revelations are beginning to unfold about the financial implications of the visit as well as what transpired during the visit.

The renown  human rights activist and chieftain of the Action  Congress of Nigeria [ACN] Dr Tunji Abayomi has challenged the Dr Olusegun Mimiko led administration to explained why a whooping N70million was spent for hosting the President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan  for just thirty minutes at the airport.

The fiery activist, Dr Abayomi made these allegation among others while speaking wih Sunshine VOICE on the state of the nation during the penultimate weekend that the governor should explained while such a whopping amount was expended on mere half an hour protocol and why should millions of naira be spent on voter's registration.

 'The thirty minutes presidential visit cost Ondo State N70milion and  the voters registration which was also the federal government prerogatives also cot the stste hundreds of millions of the monies that as supposed to be used judiciously for common  development'. Abayomi queried.

He condemned in its entirety the spending habit of the present administration in Ondo State by saying that why development is still far from the state is because the administration lacks control of public fund and resources,'The governor is more or less a financial dictator who wears the garb of a democrat'

The Okeagbe Akoko born activist turned politician also points accusing finger to the state lawmakers for allowing themselves to be bought over by the governor.

He blamed the lawmakers by saying “the state house of assembly is a stooge in the hand of the governor, they are like commodity the governor has bought them with public money, since each of them pocketed about N10 million they have since given their approval to the governor without caution, to go and take a loan of N30billion,and they have  became very useless in terms of their responsibilities to the masses”.

Mimiko, Labour Party and the South West

It has been pointed out that the Broom Revolution in the South West represented by the ACN in the 2011 elections takes the South West back to its original mode as the stronghold of opposition politics in Nigeria, and thus puts an end to the dominance of the People's Democratic Party in that part of the country since 2007. But whereas this has been widely remarked upon as an indication also of the South West being the only region that seems to have voted mostly for a "regional party" in nearly all the 2011 elections (except the Presidential), the analysis often overlooks how a state in the South West, Ondo, appears to be the only one that is untouched by the Broom Revolution, dominated as it is by the Labour Party. Both the ACN and the Labour Party in the South West are united in terms of one essential character: their leaders insist that they are progressives, they provide in their areas of influence an alternative to the PDP, both were determined to keep the PDP out and they succeeded in doing so, and once upon a time, the leaders of both parties worked together. There however seems to be an emerging rivalry between the ACN and the Labour Party in the South West which I think needs to be carefully managed, considering how what seems to have started as campaign-moment differences could degenerate into something unmanageable.

There have been insinuations that the Labour Party in Ondo state should dissolve into the ACN to give the South West one major political party running its affairs. Mrs Jumoke Anifowoshe, the ACN Chairperson in Ondo state has threatened that the "broom revolution of ACN would soon spread to Ondo state," a coded threat that the ACN is determined to dislodge Governor Olusegun Mimiko from Ondo state in subsequent elections, the most critical being the 2012 Gubernatorial election in the state. However, elections should be determined by the electorate, not by threats issued by politicians. Besides, those who argue that small political parties are of no use miss the key point about the democratic ideal. The thinking that small parties serve no purpose and should be de-registered or be swallowed by bigger parties defeats the idea of the political party as an aggregation of expressed needs and aspirations in civil society. The real constraint that contemporary political parties taking part in Nigeria's elections face is that they are required to have a national spread, and to win a certain number of seats in order to be considered viable.

The view has even been expressed for example, that with 63 political parties, the list of Nigerian political parties is unwieldy; on 2011 election day, so the argument goes, it was rather difficult looking for party names and logos with the ballot papers running into pages. That inconvenience should be a small price to pay for the diversity and broad choice that a multi-party system guarantees. In the First Republic, small parties made great impact in their localities, and where necessary, they went into alliances with other parties, supposedly bigger parties, in order to pursue their stated agenda in the public sphere.

The Mabolaje Grand Alliance was based in Ibadan. The OtuEdo Union's sphere of influence was restricted to Benin City and parts of Edo. There were such political parties as the Borno Youth Movement, the Igbira Tribal Union, the Dynamic Party and the Zamfara Commoners Party. The party formation process should as we seek to further strengthen Nigerian democracy recognize the potentials of so-called small parties. Indeed, the ACN, the CPC, and the Labour Party prove this point each in its own way. Besides, in the 2011 election, a small party, the Accord Party was quite prominent in Oyo state, and an even much smaller and younger party, the Ogun state-based PPN ended up with two seats in the House of Representatives. APGA's sphere of influence is restricted to the South East and yet in these elections, it wielded considerable influence in Imo and Anambra states. There were parties in the 2011 election that did not win more than 20, 000 votes in total, that should be no reason why they should be "swallowed" by bigger parties.

As at 2007, the ACN was largely a Lagos state-based party, where it won nearly all the available elective seats, including the Gubernatorial; it would subsequently gain a wider spread in other parts of the South, as it secured the Governorship positions in Ekiti, Edo and Osun through the courts, quickly turning those states into its strongholds. In the 2011 elections, the ACN proved to be the most improved political party in the country, it increased its representation ratio in the National Assembly, swept Edo state and the South West except Ondo state, and became a much stronger party in Edo, Plateau, Benue, Akwa Ibom, and Kwara states. The ACN is thus now a perfect example of how a small party could grow, bottom-up, through careful management and promotion. The CPC was formed about ten months ago and yet in the 2011 elections, it won the Gubernatorial election in one state (Nasarawa), 35 seats in the House of Representatives and about six seats in the Senate. General Buhari's personality is the driving force of that party, but it has great potential to become a much stranger political movement. It would be wrong to expect the CPC to dissolve into the PDP or its members to be encouraged to join the bigger party, and whatever may be his future plans, General Buhari would be doing a lot more good by working harder to transform the CPC into a strong opposition. This is why all things considered, it seems to stand to reason that both the ACN and the CPC have rejected offers by the PDP to join a proposed Government of National Unity.

In the 2011 elections, the Labour Party had highly visible candidates in Bayelsa state (Timi Alaibe, LP Gubernatorial candidate); and Plateau state, (Pauline Tallen as LP Gubernatorial candidate), it won state assembly seats in Bayelsa, Anambra and Plateau but it was in Ondo state that the party has put up its best performance so far. LP is only seven years old. In the 2007 general elections, the party won nine seats in the Ondo state House of Assembly, but following the determination of election petitions in that election and ordered re-runs/by elections and cross-carpeting from PDP to LP, by February 2009, Olusegun Mimiko had replaced PDP's Olusegun Agagu as Governor and the political face of politics in the state soon changed from PDP to Labour. In 2011, the Labour Party performed better winning 25 of the 26 seats in the House of Assembly, eight out of the nine seats for the House of Representatives and all three Senatorial seats. The latter was particularly dramatic, with relatively unknown candidates and first-timers, beating well established PDP chieftains. Former state Governor, Dr Olusegun Agagu lost to one Boluwaji Kunlere, Senator Bode Olajumoke and Senator Gbenga Ogunniya, both tested politicians also lost to rookies. The ACN, the dominant party in the South West was almost non-existent in Ondo state, going by the 2011 results.

The key to the Labour Party's victory is the Mimiko factor. In the 2011 elections, many voters were unimpressed by party flags or symbols; they were interested in the candidate and what he or she represents, or the performance of the particular party in power. In two years of being in office in Ondo state, the Mimiko administration has been able to connect with the grassroots, through a series of people-friendly initiatives such as the renovation of markets and the provision of basic infrastructure, improved access to healthcare and careful electorate perception management. It is the same strategy that has helped to make Babatunde Fashola, a popular Governor, and has worked also in Osun state where in less than one year of former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola's exit, the PDP has been completely routed in that state.

The similarity between Mimiko's strategy and that of the ACN is perhaps what is responsible for the competition for territory between both parties. The sub-text of this is the lingering debate over who has the best chance of emerging as the next Yoruba leader, with certain commentators suggesting that Mimiko's achievement in almost single-handedly building the Labour Party into a credible party, makes him a potential leader of the Yoruba. I think the talk about producing the next Awolowo in Yorubaland is utterly diversionary. Awarding the best prize to the best politician in the South West is not a priority for the electorate either.

Both the ACN and the Labour Party have an urgent duty to justify their victory over the PDP in the 2011 general elections in the South West through greater service delivery to the people. The ACN should seek to build on its incursion into other parts of Nigeria in order to become an effective opposition party on the national stage, the Labour Party faces the same challenge but the leaders of both parties should not in seeking more territory in the South West create needless tension, indeed, they should seek to work together on common ideological grounds, without one party threatening to "swallow" the other, and with less emphasis on personal ambitions. This point is made advisedly considering how in the lead up to the 2011 elections, the campaigns in Ondo state almost degenerated into name-calling between the leadership of the Labour Party and the ACN. Both the Chairman of the ACN, Chief Bisi Akande and Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, the leader of the ACN, were said to have dismissed Mimiko as "ungrateful" and his party as "worse than the PDP", with the LP also describing the ACN as the party of "fake progressives." Such currents tend to run much deeper in Yoruba politics
